~ Farmstead Gouda ~

When it comes to cheese, the Dutch are the originators and unquestioned masters of Gouda --- a traditionally cooked, pressed, semi-hard cheese (depending on age). Gouda is one of the world’s great cheeses. Ours is pale yellow, slightly nutty with a subtle sweet finish.

Aged a minimum of four months, Willamette Valley Cheese Company’s Gouda is complex and flavorful. Textures range from semi-hard to soft, encapsulated by a distinctively natural rind. It gains distinction as it ages. Gouda has a strong, aromatic flavor. It’s excellent for tradition fruit and wine pairings, including champagne. Boerenkaas (farmer’s cheese), a raw-milk Gouda with a more intense palate.

Outside of Rotterdam, the town of Gouda stands as a monument to the cheesemakers’ art. We believe our Gouda would make the Dutch masters proud. While Gouda is sold around the world, little of it is still produced the traditional way. WVC maintains that tradition with Goudas of unequalled character.
